To obtain felony convictions for (legitimately) mostly peaceful J6ers, the DOJ had to adopt Trump's argument about the electoral college certification process
Read that again.
Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald (who defies partisan or political labels) explains how an erroneous legal interpretation of a statute designed to go after Enron defendants gave prosecutors the judicial cudgel they needed to arrest, prosecute, convict, and imprison Americans — the majority of whom were non-violent — who went to Washington, D.C. to assemble in objection to what they believed to be invalid 2020 election results.

For your convenience, here are the 2 pieces he cited:
Two women died on January 6, both Trump supporters. Ashli Babbett was killed by a Capitol Police officer. Roseanne Boyland’s death has been disputed. But my point is ONLY that these were the only deaths that day.
(With all due respect to the cops who died in its wake — the Regime and the media exploited your death, in order to feed their propaganda machine.)
Three men have committed suicide. To find this fact, I had to know to put Julie Kelly into my search terms. All else yielded what you would expect.

A year ago today, I reported the hardest story related to January 6: the suicide of Matthew Perna.
Tormented by a ruthless, soulless DOJ, Matthew could take no more. He hanged himself after learning @USAO_DC
would seek years in prison for him:The Suicide of a January 6 Defendant: ‘They Broke Him’ › American Greatness
Matthew Perna did nothing wrong on January 6, 2021.The Pennsylvania man walked through an open door on the Senate side of the building shortly before 3 p.m. that afternoon. Capitol police, shown in surveillance video, stood by as hundreds of Americans entered the Capitol. Wearing a “Make America Great Again” sweatshirt, Perna, 37, left after about 20 minutes.
Matt is one of 3 J6 defendants who’ve committed suicide. After his story was told, I heard from others who said they had considered the same.
He died unnecessarily but not in vain. I believe it was a turning point as people finally realized what this DOJ and judges were doing. They’re still doing to this day.
As I’ve said all along—pray for the individuals and families enduring this unnecessary torment. And pray for karma for everyone responsible.Who Is Responsible for the Death of Matthew Perna? › American Greatness
Matthew Perna’s heartbroken family will say goodbye to him this week. After more than a year of enduring nonstop torment by the U.S. Justice Department, the D.C. District Court, and the news media over his minor involvement in January 6, Perna, 37, hanged himself in his garage on Friday night.

We’re right. They’re wrong. Woof
The real insurrection happened November 3rd.
My heart aches for Matthew Perna. I wish he had reached out to God his Father. I know that he would have been saved. Enduring pain and unjust dictates is not easy.
Free Will can definitely be a double edged sword.
